Hind Motors back in black

Kolkata Hindustan Motors (HM) has recorded a net profit of Rs 13.30 crore for the 2006-07 fiscal. The company had posted a net loss of Rs 43.69 crore for the nine-month period between July 2005 and March 2006.

The total income of the company during 2006-07 stood at Rs 707.75 crore. During July 2005 to March 2006, HM’s total income was Rs 441 crore. More

Minda Group in JV with France’s Valeo

The AK Minda Group, which makes auto components, has entered into a joint venture with French component major Valeo for manufacturing security systems for cars.

Both the partners expect to invest about Rs 75-80 crore in the next three years in the 50:50 joint venture. A K Minda Group chairman Ashok Minda said, “We expect the joint venture to clock about Rs 300 crore in the next three years. We hope exports to contribute about 20-25% to the total revenues.”The group’s consolidated revenues currently stand at Rs 300 crore. The joint venture — Minda Valeo Security Systems — would operate out of the group’s manufacturing facility in Pune.

Cummins India revenues rise 26%

Pune Cummins India Ltd (CIL) has announced 26 per cent growth in sales and 41 per cent increase in profit before tax during the 2006-07 fiscal. Sales stood at Rs 1,841 crore against Rs 1,463 crore last fiscal, while PBT rose to Rs 346 crore from Rs 246 crore.

The board has declared a dividend of 200 per cent, including the interim dividend of 100 per cent.

Phoenix Lamps net up 24%

Noida-based Phoenix Lamps Ltd has registered a 24 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 9.74 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007 up from Rs 7.88 crore for the corresponding quarter last fiscal. Sales of the company registered a 15 per cent increase at Rs 74.29 crore for the quarter ended March 31, up from Rs 64.69 crore. More

Scorpio an `Olympic’ brand: Study

Mumbai A recent brand equity study conducted by IMRB International ranked the Scorpio in the highest-level of its construct, the `Olympic’ category. An Olympic brand is one that is “well-known, well-loved and has a large core following”.

The uniqueness of its achievement lies in the fact that no other four-wheeler brand has reached this level in their segments in recent studies.

The results are based on a research conducted by IMRB using Millward Brown’s Brand Dynamics model, an internationally recognised brand equity measurement tool. More

Minda Ind Q4 net down 14%

New Delhi Minda Industries Ltd has reported a 14.4 per cent dip in its net profit to Rs 2.73 crore from Rs 3.19 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, as compared to the corresponding quarter last fiscal. Its net sales rose to Rs 124.41 crore against Rs 86.80 crore, an increase of 43 per cent. More
