Asia MotorWorks launches tipper in North

New Delhi Asia MotorWorks Ltd (AMW), a manufacturer of heavy commercial vehicles, on Saturday launched its latest product offering — a 2518 (6X4) 180 HP Tipper. The launch also marks the formal entry of the company into the market in North India.

The company also showcased its entire Global Truck Series. Its range includes 4923 Tractor, 4018 Tractor, 4923 Tip Semi-Trailer, 2523 Rock and Box Body Tipper and 2518 Haulage and 2518 Concrete Mixer.

The products are priced in the range of Rs 15-28 lakh and offer GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) ranging from 25 tonnes to 49 tonnes. More

M&M automotive sales zoom 49.5%

Mahindra & Mahindra, a part of the $4.5 billion Mahindra Group, consolidated its leadership in the automotive segment substantially in May with total vehicle sales of 18116, a growth of 49.5% over the corresponding month last year.

Mahindra Renault Logan received a resounding response from customers in the 11 cities that the car has been launched so far, clocking sales of 2786 units in less than a month since the first delivery in May. More

Tata Motors May sales dip four per cent

Homegrown auto major Tata Motors on Friday reported a four per cent decline in its sales (including exports) during May at 42,558 units compared to 44,332 units in the same month last year.

The company said its sales in the month were impacted in varying degrees between passenger and commercial vehicle segments due to high interest rates.

During the month, Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market declined three per cent at 17,580 units. Sales of its flagship hatchback Indica were also down by three per cent at 12,002 units, the company said in a statement. More

Balkrishna to demerge paper and textile businesses, add tyre capacity

Balkrishna Industries is planning to demerge its paperboards and textile processing businesses into wholly owned subsidiaries. The company sources pointed out that this could be a prelude to selling the business at a later date or transferring the businesses to other group companies at an appropriate time. Balkrishna Industries is a part of Siyaram group controlled by Mumbai based Poddar family.

The company is also in the process of expanding its installed capacity by an additional 32,000 MT. Around 12,000 MT will be added at its greenfield unit and additional 20,000 MT through better output by additional investments and reorganisation at its existing facilities at additional investment of around Rs 150 crore. The company intends to finance the additional investments with debt and internal accruals in equal proportion. More

The company is currently working on a five-year people-oriented strategy, apart from initiatives that are being taken to make young recruits understand the philosophy, culture and best practices within the company. K’taka to grant 300 acres of land to Tata Motors

The Karnataka cabinet on Monday decided to grant an additional 300 acres of land to Tata Motors Limited for its Rs 2,734 crore project coming up near Dharwad in north Karnataka.

The company was already in possession of 600 acres and the project envisaged manufacture of luxury and mini-buses and light commercial vehicles, Minister for Home and Law M P Prakash told reporters after the cabinet meeting. More
