GM making ‘major progress’ in recovery, says Wagoner

General Motors improved its liquidity, increased manufacturing efficiency and boosted revenue by cutting incentives and lower-profit sales to rental-car companies, chief executive officer Rick Wagoner said at the Detroit automaker’s annual meeting in Wilmington, Delaware.
Wagoner, 54, used the shareholder meeting two years ago to announce a plan that has since cut $9 billion out of annual costs by closing plants, reducing worker benefits and convincing 34,400 union workers to retire or leave early. More

Czech carmaker Skoda on Tuesday said it would soon launch its first small car ‘Skodafabia’ in the country.
Addressing a press conference here today, Skoda India Managing Director Karsten Bogun said the car would be introduced in the Indian market after some technological changes in it to cope with the conditions by the end of this year. More
