Tata`s NOC adds drive to DaimChrys

Tata Motors, India`s largest truck and bus producer, has given a no objection certificate (NOC) to the world`s largest commercial vehicle (CV) player DaimlerChrysler to manufacture CVs in India, reports Economic Times.

A green signal from Tata`s means stiff competition at the top end of CV and luxury bus market in the country. Consequently it will also allow the German company to roll out Mercedes-Benz branded CVs in India. More

UTI Bank offering loans for Hyundai customers

Mumbai UTI Bank has tied up with Hyundai Motor India Ltd to provide car finance to its customers. The bank plans to utilise Hyundai’s extensive dealer network and its service mark Hyundai Finance for marketing its car loans, while Hyundai will jointly conduct campaigns for customers of UTI Bank, said a press release from the bank.

The minimum amount of loan is Rs one lakh and the minimum and maximum tenure of the loan will be for a period of one year and seven years, respectively, said the release. The maximum Loan To Value (LTV) stands at 85 per cent as per the LTV grid. More

Bajaj may showcase small car prototype at Auto Expo

New Delhi Bajaj Auto Ltd on Monday said that it is likely to showcase the prototype of its small car at the Auto Expo in January 2008.

“We are working on a prototype for a small car. If it’s an interesting design we will showcase it at the Auto Expo in January next year. It will be like Pulsar on four wheels and not Maruti at half its price,” said Mr Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, BAL, reiterating that it would not be a cheap car if and when it materialises.

Amidst speculation that Bajaj would compete with the Tatas’ Rs 1-lakh car, Mr Bajaj said, “We are experimenting with the concept. We are striving to be a good two-wheeler manufacturer and have no intention to get into a segment that we are not capable of doing.” target=new More

‘Indian small car would not rival Logan’

Carlos Ghosn, who heads both Nissan Motor Co and Renault SA , said a new, cheap car the partners hope to build for India’s booming small car market will not compete directly with Renault’s Logan.

Ghosn said Nissan and Renault were looking closely at the feasibility of building a $3,000 car in India in a venture with tractor and utility vehicle maker Mahindra and Mahindra that would go head-to-head with Tata Motors Ltd.’s sub-$3,000 “People’s Car” due for launch next year.

ajaj Auto unveils Pulsar DTS Fi

Bajaj Auto on Monday introduced its 220 cc motorcycle Pulsar DTS Fi model priced at Rs 81,280 (ex-showroom Delhi) and also opened its first ‘probiking’ showroom in North India here.

Robert Bosch ups MICO India offer price by 15 pc

Germany’s Robert Bosch GmBH has raised its open offer price by 15 percent to buy an additional 20 percent in its India unit Motor Industries Co. Ltd. (MICO) , managers Citigroup said on Wednesday.

The offer, to buy 6.4 million shares, is now priced at Rs 4,600 ($112) per share, up from the Rs 4,000 announced earlier. More
