It has been a mix of rough and smooth. Time to take a breather. That’s what auto pundits are saying about the two-wheeler industry. Yes, the biking biggies have lost pace, with interest rates skyrocketing. But there have been some remarkable turnarounds too.
Sample this: During the second quarter, though motorcycle sales decreased by 14.5%, scooter/scooterettee sales shot up by almost 18%. Though the entry-level (125cc and less) motorcycle segment saw a negative growth of 21%, the premium segment (125cc and above) grew by over 13%.
Wait, it’s not over yet. While all two-wheeler manufacturers witnessed a slowdown, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) posted a whopping 43% growth! More

A new team consisting of senior executives of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), which had picked up a 64.6% stake in the Chandigarh based Punjab Tractors Limited (PTL), took charge of the company of Saturday.
