Chennai based truck and bus maker Ashok Leyland has indigenously developed a new four-wheeler light specialist vehicle (LSV). Sources say it’s a Humvee-type vehicle (the iconic vehicles used by the American defence forces) and a prototype will be delivered to the Indian army for field trials soon. The LSV (Mahindra & Mahindra has also developed an LSV variant called AXE) marks Ashok Leyland’s entry into this category of vehicles. More

Gauging growth for Accurate’s manufacturing biz

Now, Accurate has brought down delivery time to below nine weeks even as European manufacturers take 12-15 weeks. It has also reduced manufacturing time from two years to nine months. Says Accurate Group managing director Vikram Salunkhe: “We are vertically integrated and our processes are all in-house, which allows us to deliver faster.” More

The new platform will be for a global car like all Honda platforms but will be primarily sourced and manufactured out of India. This will be a first for Honda which has a handful of basic platforms worldwide from which it spins out new models.
When contacted, a Honda Siel spokesperson said, “Honda is looking at two cars in the compact segment in the next few years but we don’t have details right now.” More

According to industry sources, the company has contacted customers who bought the 125cc XCD to replace faulty electronic components for self start and head lamps along with a part of ‘noisy’ centre-stand. More
