GM takes sales lead over Toyota

General Motors outsold Toyota Motor in the first nine months of the year, buoyed by sales outside the US, in the battle to extend its 76-year reign as the world’s largest carmaker.

Hyundai plans to foray LCV market, in talks with Indian firm

Korean carmaker Hyundai is planning to enter the light commercial vehicles (LCVs) market in India, for which it is in talks with a local firm.

The company, which has a slew of LCVs in Korea ranging between 2.5 tonnes up to 7 tonnes, has been studying the feasibility for entering the segment, specially the below one tonne domain dominated by Tata Motors’ “Ace”. more

General Motors plans to set up powertrain plant

General Motor India, a unit of world’s largest carmaker GM Corp, is evaluating possibilities to set up a powertrain (engine manufacturing) unit in the country to cater to domestic and export market.

“We have not finalised the timing of the plant but are definately planning to bring powertrain to India. The details of the plant would be announced in the near future,” GM India’s newly appointed President and Managing Director Karl Slym told reporters here. More
