Volvo to set up Indian JV with Eicher Motors

World number two truck maker Volvo said on Monday it had signed a letter of intent to set up a new truck and bus joint venture with Eicher Motors Ltd.

Volvo said in a statement it would acquire an 8.1 per cent stake in Eicher to give it a direct and indirect ownership of 50 per cent in the joint venture. More

Sri Lanka’s Micro Cars to export SUVs to India

Sri Lankan car company Micro Cars Ltd will export locally assembled South Korean Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) SsangYong Kyron to India from next year.

“There is a demand for quality SUVs in India,” Micro Cars Managing Director Lawrence Perera told reporters here.

The company has already sent test vehicles to India and received “very good” response, he said, adding Micro Cars would export its locally assembled Kyron SUVs to India from next year. More

Suzuki’s next global car to drive out from India

After identifying India as a global export hub, Japanese auto major Suzuki Motor Co is planning to roll out its next ‘world car’ from the country.

Jamna Auto to double capacity, launch exports

World’s leader in high precision commercial vehicle springs, Jamna Auto Industries (JAI) intends to double capacity to 200,000 metric tonne per annum with two new greenfield plants while pursuing exports to Europe from 2009.

JAI is the largest producer of multi and parabolic leaf springs in India with close to 60 per cent market share and expects to be in the top three spring suppliers of the world by 2010. More
