Bajaj Auto, France?s Renault and Japan?s Nissan will sign a formal agreement next month for making their proposed small car in India, scheduled to be launched by 2011. According to sources close to the development, the yet-to-be-named ultra low-cost car ? said to challenge the Tata Nano ? would have most of the features of the concept car that was displayed at the Auto Expo in January and would be priced at $2,500 (slightly more than Rs 1 lakh), even in 2011.

Honda Siel Cars India will review its sales target of 90,000 units in the country for the fiscal 2008-09 in view of the “unpredictable market conditions”.
The auto maker had said earlier it would sell around 90,000 cars in 2008-09 in the country.

Ashok Leyland, JBM Auto enter into strategic alliance
Published May 13th, 2008 in Ashok Leyland. 0 CommentsAuto major Ashok Leyland on Monday said it has signed an agreement with component maker JBM Auto for setting up a manufacturing unit entailing an investment of Rs 100 crore at the company’s upcoming plant in Uttrakhand.
JBM Auto would hold a majority share in the strategic alliance with 74 per cent, while Ashok Leyland would hold 26 per cent. The estimated investment in the JV is around Rs 100 crore and there would also be large pressing and welding facilities, a statement issued by the auto major said. More

Ford Motor Co has started operations at its engine assembly plant in India, the US carmaker said on Tuesday, as it seeks a bigger share of the fast-growing market.
The plant, near Chennai, will initially make 60,000 engines annually for its Fiesta and Fusion models, starting with the 1.4-litre diesel Duratorq engines, it said. More
