Volvo?s 2020 Vision: An injury-proof car

The destruction of the orange sedan with its slapdash paintwork may have been intentional but it was far from wanton. It was all part of Volvo?s bid to create an injury-proof car by 2020.

Hero Honda sales up 9 pc in April

India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda Motors Ltd today reported a 9.03 per cent jump in motorcycle sales during April at 2,86,252 units against 2,62,544 units in the same month last year. More

Hyundai domestic sales up 36.71 pc in April

Car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Thursday reported a 36.71 per cent jump in domestic passenger car sales during April at 21,501 units, against 15,728 units in the corresponding month of 2007.

The company’s cumulative sales (including exports) during April were up 47.77 per cent at 40,001 units, compared to 27,069 units in the same month a year ago, Hyundai Motor India said in a statement. More

Excise cuts in budget fuel gas into auto sector

Automobile manufacturers today reported an impressive growth in sales during April, showing signs of recovery after the excise duty cut announced in the budget.

Leading the growth in the car segment, country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India witnessed a healthy 22 per cent increase in sales, while Hero Honda, the market leader in the two-wheeler category, registered an over nine per cent jump in its sales for the month. More

Car, 2-wheeler sales zoom in April

The first month of the new fiscal year cheered up the auto industry. After a year of deceleration, the two-wheeler industry moved away from the negative sales graph while passenger car sales reached an all-time high in April.

The sales growth was helped by excise duty cut, apprehensions of rising interest rates after RBI?s move to tighten monetary policy further and the impending price rise indicated by all auto firms. Excise duty on cars and bikes was reduced to 12% from 16% in the Budget. Read more
