Satyam Computer today announced that its Automotive Embedded Engineering Practice has achieved the Pathfinder Organisational Maturity Level 5, an assessment that reflects company?s process maturity. Audi to offer electric cars in 5-10 years: report

Audi, the luxury unit of Volkswagen, sees will offer automobiles with no exhaust emissions within ten years, its top executive told a German weekly.

Rupert Stadler told Welt am Sonntag in an interview published on Sunday that he saw great opportunities in electric cars and expected diesel and battery technology to dominate in the coming five to ten years.

Audi plans to sell 1200 units in India by 2008

Considering the boom in the luxury car segment in the country, German car maker Audi said on Friday it expects to sell 1,200 units in India by the year.

The company is also ready to start assembling its, yet to be launched, A4 variant in the country with an investment of 10 million euros.

“We are expecting to sell 1,200 of our cars in the Indian market in 2008 compared to 350 cars sold last year on the back of growing demand for luxury cars in the market,” said Audi India MD Benoit Tiers, who was here to launch a showroom. Read more

Audi launches new showroom in Pune

German luxury car maker Audi today announced it has opened a 6,500 sq ft showroom in Pune, which will display the entire range of models.

“With Audi Pune, we inaugurate today the largest luxury car showroom in the town. We are opening this second dealership in Maharashtra for our customers to see and feel the exclusivity, sophistication and progressiveness,” Audi India Managing Director Benoit Tiers said in a statement.

Audi begins production in India

Audi India has commenced production of the Audi A6 at Aurangabad and expects to manufacture 300-400 units of the luxury midsize sedan, intended exclusively for the Indian market, by the end of 2008. It also plans to launch assembly of the Audi A4 later this year.

In a statement, Mr Rupert Stadler, Chairman, Board of Management, Audi AG said, ?Starting our own production there is the best way to adequately serve such a promising growth market like India?. He added that ?India is one of the components of our Strategy 2015, which aims to achieve sales of 1.5 million automobiles per year worldwide. Audi A6 to get cheaper by up to Rs 2.1 lakh

Luxury car maker Audi on Thursday said it has started production of its mid-size sedan A6 at its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra following which the model will become cheaper by Rs 1.4-2.1 lakh.

The company is also investing 30 million euros (about Rs 180 crore) in Aurangabad to have a capacity of 2,000 A6 units by 2015. Read more

DaimlerChrysler sees brisk sales of Merc in India

DaimlerChrysler sees brisk demand for its luxury Mercedes-Benz cars in India and is targeting a wider base of aspirational buyers through financing schemes.

DaimlerChrysler said sales of its premium Mercedes cars had reached almost 1,500 in the first seven months of 2007, up 22 per cent from the same period a year earlier.

The company, which competes with BMW, Volkswagen’s Audi and Porsche, sold 2,121 vehicles in 2006, an 11 per cent rise on 2005 sales. The increase comes despite five interest rate increases since June last year, which have hurt sales of other vehicles and motorbikes. More
