HMSI to launch new bike, scooter in India

Honda Motorcycle Scooter India (HMSI), a unit of Japanese two-wheeler major Honda Motor, is planning to introduce new scooter and motorcycle models in the next few months to strengthen its product portfolio in the country as it targets sales of 8.8 lakh units this fiscal.

The company, which is the biggest scooter maker in the country, will introduce a new scooter model at the upcoming Auto Expo in New Delhi in January followed by a motorcycle targeted at youngsters early next fiscal. More

Hind Motors plans to invest Rs 750 mn

Hindustan Motors Ltd, plans to invest 750 million over two years at its Uttarpara plant in West Bengal to boost its components business, a top official said on Monday.

The bulk of the investment will go towards upgrading technology and modernising the component manufacturing facilties at the plant, Managing Director R Santhanam, told shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting. More

Hindustan Motors to launch SUV

Indian roads are all set to experience some more premium cars. Hindustan Motors, the GP-CK Birla flagship company, has firmed up plans to launch premium sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in the price range of Rs 15-25 lakh from the Mitsubishi stable within six months. The cars will be manufactured at HM’s Chennai plant. More

HM sees positive growth in auto components biz

Hindustan Motors Ltd (HM) is bullish about the prospects of its auto components business.

The company, which has earmarked an investment of Rs 75 crore in this segment over the next two years, hopes to cater to the growing demand for auto components in the domestic market as well as in the US and Europe.

Within the next six months the company will also launch a premium range SUV from the Mitsubishi stable in the Rs 15-25 lakh price range. In the months ahead, the company will also focus on offering services pertaining to engineering design for auto components. More

Hindustan Motors loss narrows in Jun`07 qtr

Hindustan Motors announced that its loss for the quarter ended June 2007 has narrowed by 55% to Rs 91.5 million as compared with a loss of Rs 205.4 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Net sales for the quarter declined marginally 0.90% to Rs 1,402.00 million from Rs 1,414.70 million for the quarter ended June 2006.

Total income rose 0.12% to Rs 1,435.9 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 1,434.2 million for the same quarter, last year. More
