Honda to launch small car from Rajasthan unit

Automobile major, Honda Motors Cos Indian arm, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, said it was looking at introducing a small car in the Indian market from its upcoming Rajasthan unit in two years time, a top company official said.

“We plan to enter the small car market, which will be manufactured at our new unit coming up in Rajasthan in two years time,” Honda Siel Cars India’s President and CEO, Masahiro Takedagawa told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference on Wednesday. More

Honda to review sales target in India

Honda Siel Cars India will review its sales target of 90,000 units in the country for the fiscal 2008-09 in view of the “unpredictable market conditions”.

The auto maker had said earlier it would sell around 90,000 cars in 2008-09 in the country.

Your dream car is getting costlier. While car makers are increasing prices in May, financiers are hiking interest rates, leading to a steep increase in the cost of possession.

The increase may be in the range of Rs 4,000 for small cars to Rs 18,000 for deluxe ones. An increase in interest rates will result in an extra Rs 3,600 burden over a five-year finance deal for a Rs 1-lakh loan. Read more

Honda to hike City, Civic prices by up to Rs 10,000

Owing to rising input costs, car maker Honda Siel Cars India today said it will increase the prices of its two sedans City and Civic between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 by next month.

A company official said the rising steel prices and other input costs have put immense pressure, which the company has been trying to absorb.

Honda plans to enter 100 cc segment in 2010

Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will enter the 100 cc motorcycle segment, and expects to launch a product in the 2010-11 fiscal.

New version of Honda?s Accord to roll out by June

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd will launch a new version of its Accord variant in May-June this year. Honda launches ‘Aviator’ scooter

Aimed at catering to the needs of “new age” customers, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) on Monday unveiled ‘Aviator,’ a new premium automatic scooter, with a sale target of one lakh units during 2008-09.

The new product, fourth from the stable of Honda in scooter segment after Activa, Dio and Eterno, is set for a national launch on March six.

Availabe in two variants — standard and deluxe — and in five premium colours, the product would cost Rs 40,283 at ex-showroom price in Chennai, HMSI President and CEO Shinji Aoyama told reporters at the launch function here. Read more

Honda’s natural gas car named as Greenest Vehicle of 2008

Honda’s Civic GX natural gas car has been named by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy as the greenest vehicle of 2008 for the fifth consecutive year.

According to a report in Environmental News Network, three other Honda vehicles also featured in the top list of the ACEEE.

In the 11th annual ACEEE’s ranking of environmentally responsible vehicles, the natural gas-powered Civic GX ranked first with the gasoline Civic, Fit and Civic Hybrid joining the list of the 12 most environmentally-conscious vehicles available to the public. Read more
