Renault has cut its Indian sales targets as growth was not as fast as expected, although a study for a mini car in India was on track, a top official of car maker’s Indian unit.

Nissan, Renault ink MoU for plant in Tamil Nadu
Published February 23rd, 2008 in Nissan and Renault. 0 CommentsNissan Motor and Renault on Friday signed an MoU with Tamil Nadu government as part of their commitment to set up a state-of-the-art automotive facility on 678 acres at Oragadam, near Chennai.
They have envisaged a higher investment of Rs 4,500 crore ($1,140 million) over seven years through their 50:50 venture for creating a capacity to produce four lakh cars per annum.
Last year, when Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) was part of the three-way venture, an investment of Rs 4,000 crore was envisaged for the same capacity. Now, besides the higher investment, the partners expect their suppliers to pump in an investment of Rs 2,000 crore. More

Low-cost car with Bajaj very important: Renault

The Renault-Nissan combine is studying the feasibility of making a $3,000 car with Indian motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto, following the lead of Tata Motors, which last month unveiled the Nano, a car priced at just over $2,500, or about half the price of the cheapest car in the market now. Read more

Renault has a 44% stake in Nissan and their alliance is the number three car grouping in the world after General Motors and Toyota Motor. They signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Tamil Nadu for a plant near Chennai. More

Logan?s petrol variant sees spurt in sales

Mahindra-Renault, which lowered the price of Logan last month, said that its petrol variant saw a spurt in sales and from this month, the company began production of the car in two shifts.
?We started the second shift for manufacturing Logan from February. With this, our production capacity would increase monthly to above 2,500,? said Mr Nalin Mehta, Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Mahindra-Renault. More
