With over seven launches in 35 months designed with Indian engineering teams collaboratively, Japanese automaker Suzuki is likely to step up engineering and design work out of here.
The company R&D team based in Gurgaon, which now comprises 480 engineers, plans to increase this to about 1,000 people by 2010, according to Mr I.V. Rao, Managing Executive Officer, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
Speaking to Business Line, Mr Rao explained how the company?s India R&D teams have managed to roll out about seven models with design and engineering inputs from India. Read more

Sagging sales and shrinking market are forcing two-wheeler companies to upgrade and venture into the fast growing 150cc premium bikes segment. The Chennai-based TVS Motor will launch two high-power upgrades of the Apache, its sporty motorcycle model, in the 180cc and the 200cc segment.
Suzuki Motorcycle India plans to introduce an all-new 150cc bike in the domestic market. Meanwhile, bike majors like Honda and Yamaha will unveil their new range of premium bikes at the Auto Expo in January. More

In keeping with its commitment to make India the largest hub outside Japan, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) said that the company would launch its compact car model from the country next year for the export and domestic markets. India will also see the debut of its global car, Splash.
The SMC Chairman, Mr Osamu Suzuki, said that the company would commence the production of its concept car, A-Star, in the autumn of 2008 for the European market. The company would manufacture 1,50,000 units of the new car. Mr Suzuki said of this, 50,000 units would be for the domestic market and 1 lakh units for exports. More

Suzuki Motor Corp’s new world car will be built in India and aimed at European markets, its chief executive said on Tuesday.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, in which Suzuki owns 54.2 percent, will unveil the car at the upcoming Auto Expo in New Delhi in January and launch the car after autumn 2008, Osamu Suzuki said at a news conference. More

Attempting to woo Indian customers once again, Japanese bike maker Suzuki Motor Co will display its might at the upcoming auto expo in January where it will showcase a new concept motorcycle Biplane.
The company which is attempting to revive its fortune in the country after their break-up in 2001 with Chennai-based TVS Motor Co, will display the, Biplane, which was showcased for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show last month. More

The Indian power bike segment is hotting up. Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL), a 100% subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, is all set to introduce premium-powered bikes between 125-175cc in the country. The bikes will be exhibited in the upcoming Auto Expo 2008.
