Punjab Tractors Q4 net jumps 2.24 times

Punjab Tractors (PTL), one of the leading tractors manufacturer, announced on Wednesday the profit after tax of the company rose to Rs 267 million in the quarter ended March 2008, registering 2.24 times jump over prior year period. Automobile sales hits record high in Brazil

Automobile sales hit a record high of 248,945 units in April in Brazil, the National Motor Vehicle Distribution Federation said on Friday.

‘India to steer light vehicles market’

India is poised to emerge as fourth-largest light vehicle market in the world by 2014, riding on low-cost cars, according to a survey. And, a double digit demand growth will push India ahead of countries like Germany, Russia and Brazil, it added.

Sales of light vehicles or those below 3.5-tonne GVW (gross vehicle weight) would experience a 16% compound annual growth rate till 2014 on the back of new launches, particularly in the mini car (like Tata Nano) segment, said USbased automotive market forecasting firm CSM Worldwide.

Auto parts cos to post modest Jan-March profit

Indian auto parts makers are expected to report modest profits in the Jan-March quarter as they battle a slowdown in auto sales and high input costs.

Amtek Auto Ltd and Motherson Sumi Systems are expected to post lower profits, while Cummins India may report a 10 percent growth in profit, down from 21.4 per cent a year ago, a poll of analysts showed. More

‘Green’ cars boost Thai auto industry

Incentives from the Thai government to encourage automakers to produce fuel-efficient “eco-cars” have yielded a raft of major investments and started to change how Thais drive, experts say.
