Volkswagen will increase investments in India by 40%
Published April 4th, 2008 in Volkswagen. 0 CommentsGerman auto group Volkswagen AG is increasing its spend in India by around 40 per cent, and will now invest ?580 million against the ?411 million announced earlier in its plant coming up at Chakan near Pune. It is also setting up a vendor park on a third of the 575-acre plot area where suppliers can lease space, and is in the midst of a tender process for a developer.
Calling its investment the largest by any German company in the country, Mr Joerg Mueller, President and Managing Director, VW India Pvt Ltd, said that the biggest growth will come with the VW brand. ?We can import, assemble (from knocked down units) and produce cars with the complete range ? press, body and paint shops to assembly,? he said. A project by vehicle design students at London’s RCA brought thoughtful visualizations of future market sectors

Premium small cars like Fiat 500, Volkswagen’s New Beetle & BMW’s Mini prepare to drive in India

This small car will have company at the premium end, too, with European majors bringing in their premium small cars, starting with the Fiat 500. It will be joined later this year by Volkswagen’s New Beetle, and even perhaps by the BMW-owned marquee Mini. The New Beetle and Mini are expected to carry price tags of around Rs 20 lakh. More

Volkswagen partners with PCH, launches Passat Sedan
Published January 22nd, 2008 in Volkswagen. 0 CommentsVolkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker on Monday signed a partnership agreement with city-based PCH Group, making it the first authorised dealer for Volkswagen in Bangalore and announced the entry of the Rs 25 lakh Passat sedan in the Silicon city.
The PCH group will invest around Rs 50 crore towards setting up two world class showrooms for Volkswagen cars in India, Gurjit Singh, Managing Director of the group told reporters here.
It will open the first Volkswagen showroom in Bangalore at Hosur Road by end of 2008. The showroom will offer 3S facility- Spares, Sales and Service, equipped with the latest service infrastructure, he said. They also plan to open a first-of-its kind bouitque by June 2008 at 100 feet Indiranagar, which will provide Volkswagen offerings. Read more
