Sourav Ganguly on the backfoot after taking on MS Dhoni
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly chose to play it safe on Sunday after indicating a day earlier that MS Dhoni could have had a hand in Virender Sehwag’s ouster from the Test squad for the remaining two matches against Australia.
“It’s very difficult to say whether Dhoni has a hand in Sehwag’s exclusion but normally captains do have a say in team selection,” PTI quoted Ganguly as clarifying media reports from Saturday.
Reports in the media from a day earlier also quoted Ganguly questioning Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni’s selection in the team despite a poor run of form, saying if those two can stay in the team then why can’t Sehwag. Dhoni scored a double century in Chennai and a decent 44 in Hyderbad, while Tendulkar contributed with an 81-run knock in the first innings of the Chennai Test.
