Sri Lanka get off to flier on juicy track
Tharanga Paranavitana’s best effort in Tests and a typical aggressive start by Tillakaratne Dilshan maintained the trend of frenetic first sessions in the series. India scored 105 in 25 overs on the first morning in Ahmedabad and 131 in 26 overs in Kanpur; today, Sri Lanka managed 117 for 1 in 27. Unlike Kanpur, though, this pitch kept the bowlers interested with swing, bounce and turn – not alarming but more than enough for a first morning.
The new-ball bowlers beat the openers outside off five times in the 13 overs bowled between them but erred much more often and both Paranavitana and Dilshan cashed in on every loose delivery. Read more
