Pakistan toil as New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori strikes

New Zealand shrugged off the absence of paceman Shane Bond to reduce Pakistan to 161-6 on a rain-shortened opening day of the second Test in Wellington.

Skipper Daniel Vettori took 3-42 and Bond’s injury replacement Daryl Tuffey 2-32, with a succession of Pakistan batsmen cut off in the 20s and 30s.

After opting to bowl first, New Zealand watched as Imran Farhat and Salman Butt put on 60 for the first wicket. Read more
