In reply to Gujarat’s first innings total of 260, Bengal scored 526 for 7 and declared. Manoj Tiwary (191) and Laxmi Ratan Shukla’s unbeaten 113 powered Bengal’s innings on day three.
Gujarat were reeling at 18 for 4 at stumps and trailing by 248 runs with Venugopal Rao and Rush Kalaria at the crease. The visiting team’s bowlers had a tough time on both the days as Tiwary and Shukla piled on runs. Moreover, Gujarat got off to a jittery start to their second innings and lost their top four batsmen cheaply.
