MS Dhoni, as usual, was a picture of calmness after hitting the shot that completed the historic 4-0 series victory over Australia, and there were no triumphant statements after the win either. He termed the victory satisfying, and said that it shouldn’t been seen as payback for the humbling India received on the Australia tour in 2011-12.
“It is a big satisfaction,” Dhoni said. “People are talking about revenge, but that word is slightly… we shouldn’t really use it, the very fact that the next question that gets asked is about the spirit of cricket, and if you have spirit of cricket and revenge at the same place, I don’t think it makes sense.”
India have struggled to fill the No. 6 for several years now, and decided to go in with the extra bowler in Ravindra Jadeja with Dhoni moving up one spot. They also axed Gautam Gambhir at the start of the series, and Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh midway through it, asking several younger players to step up. Read more
