England’s Eoin Morgan to have operation on broken right finger

England batsman Eoin Morgan will have an operation on a broken right finger on Friday.

Morgan, 26, suffered the injury during the Champions Trophy semi-final against South Africa on 19 June and had attempted to play through the pain.

The Middlesex left-hander pulled out of Thursday’s second Twenty20 international against New Zealand and will be sidelined for several weeks.

Dublin-born Morgan has scored 2,899 runs in one-day international cricket. Read more
