Strong reactions: ICC had warned BCCI about Meiyppan

A chorus of voices has reacted with shock and concern to the CNN-IBN expose on Friday that threatens to shake the foundations of Indian cricket. Documents accessed by CNN-IBN show conversations between the arrested Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of the under-fire BCCI president N Srinivasan, and Hindi film actor Vindoo Dara Singh in which the former warned the latter about betting in the recent IPL 6 because the International Cricket Council (ICC) had apparently warned the Indian board about his involvement with bookies.

The transcripts show that Meiyappan told Vindoo that he suspected ICC could have warned BCCI about him.

According to Mumbai police sources, information may not have been gone through the BCCI but rather sent straight to Meiyappan, the team principal of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. While Srinivasan denied to CNN-IBN being contacted by any ICC official in regards to the actions of Meiyappan, and the BCCI joint secretary Anurag Thakur said he was not aware of any such ICC alert, the news has been met with strong reactions.
