Nitschke fireworks help Australia to clean sweep
Shelley Nitschke’s breezy 94 ensured a clean sweep for Australia in the five-match ODI series against India after the bowlers had restricted the Indians to 177 for 9. Nitschke, Emma Sampson and Delissa Kimmince took two wickets each to set up a seven-wicket win at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Indian openers Sulakshana Naik and Anagha Deshpande justified stand-in captain Rumeli Dhar’s decision to bat first by putting on a 54-run opening stand. However, once Naik fell, castled by Nitschke, a mini-collapse followed and India slipped to 70 for 4.
