Sri Lanka have recalled fast bowler Dilhara Fernando to the squad for the second Test against Pakistan, which begins at the SSC on June 30, as a replacement for the injured Chanaka Welegedara. The selectors were short of options, with several back-up seamers nursing injuries.
Fernando’s last Test appearance was the Boxing Day match against South Africa in Durban in 2011. His inclusion is the only change to the Sri Lanka squad that won the first Test in Galle by 209 runs.
“Fernando has recovered from a shoulder injury and we have included him in the 15, but I am not sure whether he will play,” chairman of selectors Ashantha de Mel said. “The team management will take a call on who should support Nuwan Kulasekara. Read more

South Africa captain Graeme Smith is fit to lead their 15-man Test squad against England this summer after recovering from injury.
Left-hander Smith, 31, had surgery on his injured left ankle in April.
South Africa have named the same squad which beat New Zealand 1-0 in March.
Cricket South Africa selection convener Andrew Hudson said: “The players fully deserve a vote of confidence after the outstanding manner in which they outplayed New Zealand away from home.” Read more

Durham, who narrowly failed to pull off their first Championship win a week ago when they lost by two wickets to Lancashire in the final over, will hope for better fortune at their Chester-le-Street HQ on the final day against Warwickshire in another enticingly-balanced contest.
Warwickshire trail by 227 and still have to take the last three Durham wickets after a third day in which play ended at 2.30pm, with plans for a resumption at 5.15pm falling prey to more drizzle and poor light.
When Durham were 116 for 7, Warwickshire were back in the game after trailing by 80 on first innings, but Collingwood and Scott Borthwick staged a recovery, with Collingwood surviving an injury scare after he was struck on the hand by Chris Wright. He went for an X-ray, which revealed there was no break, and remains 29 not out overnight. Read more
