Delhi police sources on Saturday told CNN-IBN that Rajasthan Royals’ bowler Sreesanth received Rs 10 lakhs of the total 40 lakhs as fixed. Bank accounts of the players were also checked and the sources added that there were strong evidence against Sreesanth and they have enough proof to prove Sreesanth’s money trail.

It has also been learned that the police team was sent to offspinner Ajit Chandila’s house and they have a voice recording between him and his wife, where his wife is asking him from where is he getting so much money from.

Earlier, a team of the Mumbai crime branch raided the Sofitel Hotel in Mumbai’s Badra-Kurla Complex on Friday night in relation to the spot-fixing case, from where they have seized a laptop that belongs to the arrested player Sreesanth. Read more

Pace bowler James Anderson has become only the fourth England player to take 300 Test wickets.

Lancashire’s Anderson, 30, joined Sir Ian Botham, Bob Willis and Fred Trueman by having New Zealand opener Peter Fulton caught by Graeme Swann on the second day of the first Test at Lord’s.

“It was an emotional moment for me, I’ve worked really hard to get myself cemented in this team,” he said.

Parvez Rasool debuts, Knight Riders bat

Parvez Rasool, the Jammu & Kashmir allrounder, was included in the Pune Warriors XI and became the first player from the northern state to feature in an IPL match. He replaced legspinner Rahul Sharma. Warriors, however, lost the toss and were asked to field by Kolkata Knight Riders, who still have a mathematical interest in the game.

Knight Riders made two changes to their team. They brought in Manoj Tiwary, who missed a few matches due to injury, and Ryan ten Doeschate, who is playing for the first time this season, replacing Debabrata Das and Ryan McLaren. When asked if the team was motivated to end the tournament on a high, Gautam Gambhir said, “playing for KKR is a big enough motivation. If someone needs to look somewhere else for motivation, he shouldn’t be in the dressing room.”

Sussex have announced West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith will return to Hove as their second overseas player for their FL t20 campaign.

The 30-year-old previously featured for the county between 2008 and 2010.

Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson said: “Dwayne has the ability to win games by himself with the bat.

“He is [also] a more than useful bowler and he is one of the best fielders ever seen at Hove. Everybody is excited about his return.” Read more

Durham seamer Graham Onions is hopeful the form that brought a FTI Most Valuable Player award for April can carry him into the England team.

The 30-year-old has 18 first-class wickets so far this season, helping Durham to two wins from four in Division One of the Championship.

“Everybody who plays county cricket has aspirations to play for England and I’m no different,” Onions told BBC Sport.

“I’m no spring chicken but I’m also a consistent performer.”

Northern Districts bowling allrounder Bradley Scott has ended his association with the team, citing personal reasons and will be leaving for Dunedin, along with his family.

Scott, who is a left-arm medium pacer and a lower-order batsman, moved to Northern Districts in 2008-09. He was a key player for Northern Districts in all forms of the game but, in the last two seasons, his participation was largely restricted to limited-over formats.

Before joining Northern Districts, Scott represented Otago in the national competition. After his transfer in 2008, he played 17 first-class games and took 21 wickets for Northern Districts, and was a part of the team that won the Plunket Shield and two domestic one-day tournaments. His last first-class and List-A appearances were in 2011, but Scott played the recent T20 tournament for Northern Districts. Read more

Even before it has started, the sixth season of the league has seen franchises hit by several significant player injuries. As of Saturday, the injury toll count for IPL 6 had reached eight, with five of nine franchises losing or standing to lose key members of their squads. The worst hit so far has been Delhi Daredevils, who have lost two key batsmen and a genuine quick even before their first preparatory camp got underway.

The talismanic England batsman has been ruled out of the IPL with a knee injury sustained during the tour of New Zealand recently. Pietersen played in the first two drawn Tests but missed the third, at which time the ECB released a statement saying he needed six to eight weeks to recover. Pietersen’s withdrawal is major setback for Delhi Daredevils, whom he joined in 2012 and helped guide to the play-off stages of IPL 5. Read more

Graeme Swann says he is hoping to be back bowling by April and match-fit in time for the summer’s Ashes series.

The 34-year-old off-spinner missed England’s recent Test series in New Zealand with an elbow problem, but could be fit to face the Kiwis in May.

“By the end of April I hope to be bowling,” said Swann.

“In an ideal world I’d be fit and proving to the coach and captain that I’m bowling well to make the first Test of the summer.”

The Nottinghamshire player added: “That’s my aim. Whether it’s pie in the sky or too optimistic, that’s the goal.” Read more
