Teen fashion designer to showcase her work at New York Fashion Week

A teen from Omaha will debut her clothing line at New York Fashion Week next month. The 16-year-old fashion designer spoke with KETV on Jan. 21. Kate Walz is already well-known in her own circles. She’s been dubbed a “veteran” designer in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

She’s already showcased her designs six times during Omaha Fashion Week. Walz recalled the first time she was interested in fashion design. She said that she started sewing at 8 years old. By the time she was 12, she sold her designs in a local boutique.

Kate was invited to New York Fashion Week by someone on the Internet. They noticed her designs, and invited her to the twice a year event. She will showcase 30 of her pieces on Feb. 8.Read more
