Priyanka, Sidharth to walk for Manish Malhotra

Priyanka Chopra speaking on the importance of cinema, heartthrob du jour Siddarth Malhotra walking the ramp with actors Varun Dhawan and Ayushmann Khurrana, Hema Malini and Bhanu Athaiya seated in the front row… it’s a large-scale production that Manish Malhotra has planned for his Lakmé Fashion Week show on March 22 in Mumbai.

Celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema, the time-travelling collection begins with a series of black and ivory garments, a colour palette inspired by the movies of the early decades. It then moves into the pastels of the 60s, growing bolder as it picks up the polka-dotted prints of the 70s and the bright bling of the 80s.

It promises to be a grand, headline-grabbing show.

“The collection has been influenced by cinematic icons like Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman, but I didn’t want to make it caricaturish and make literal copies of the key styles of that time,” Malhotra explains.Read more
