We’ve got some great news for those owning the NovaThor U8500-powered Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy S Advance. Apparently the two mid-range smartphones will be getting the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean treatment without any Ice Cream Sandwich jump in-between.
One of our readers from Bulgaria contacted the local Samsung branch, asking if the two smartphones will be getting Android 4.0 ICS. The surprise response was that the Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy S Advance will be skipping on the Ice Cream Sandwich release and will be upgraded directly to Jelly Bean.Read more

Here’s a picture of what could be the upcoming Sony Xperia J handset.
If this is a genuine leak, the Xperia J (codenamed ST26i) will be a budget handset, but with a 4-inch screen and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
Though according to Mobile-Review, the screen is said to offer “poor colour reproduction, excessive glare and low viewing angles”.
Inside is a 1,700mAh battery, and a 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227a processor. That processor is considerably less powerful than most smartphones nowadays, so it’s very much a low-end handset.Read more

Sony today started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to its Xperia P smartphone.
The updated Google mobile OS won’t hit devices all at once. Sony said in a blog post that ICS will appear on the Xperia P over the next few weeks globally.
“All Xperia P users will get a notification when the upgrade is ready, but direct availability in the phone may vary across different markets and carriers,” Sony said. “It’s worth noting that in some cases, the software package may only be accessible via PC Companion or Bridge for Mac, instead of directly in the phone.”
Sony said the Xperia U, Xperia sola, and Xperia go are “next out the door” for ICS, but the company did not have details on exact launch dates.Read more
