Samsung Montage (Virgin Mobile)

Plain old cell phones are getting harder to come by, even on contract-free carriers like Virgin Mobile. But not everyone is ready for a smartphone. If you’re content to talk, text, and not do much else, the $49.99 Samsung Montage from Virgin Mobile is a pretty good deal. It’s a simple feature phone with a decent slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It doesn’t have 3G, and its feature set is pretty limited, but it’ll keep you connected with an inexpensive payLo plan.

Virgin Mobile Differences and Conclusions
It has a different name, but the Montage is the same phone as the Samsung Array we reviewed over on Boost Mobile. For a closer look at the phone, read our review of that phone and check out the slideshow below. It’s the same device, and since both Boost and Virgin run on Sprint’s network, we expect it to perform similarly.Read more

While the three major U.S iPhone carriers launched the iPhone 5 on September 21 and prepaid carrier Cricket and a number of regional carriers followed suit on September 28, one U.S. brand has been curiously silent about its plans for the iPhone 5: Sprint’s prepaid Virgin Mobile unit. Virgin launched the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 in late June, offering prepaid plans for as low as $30 per month to customers willing to pay full retail price for their iPhones.

But while no official iPhone 5 announcement has been made, MacRumors has confirmed that Apple does indeed have Virgin-specific CDMA iPhone 5 units lined up and ready to go. The full suite of Virgin Mobile USA iPhone 5 model numbers includes:

While the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone are on the top of a lot of people’s wish lists, not everyone can afford the latest and most powerful smartphones. As the Android Authority are reporting the Galaxy Reverb may not be the most powerful smartphone available, but the handset still has a lot going for it. The handset didn’t get revealed until recently, but the Reverb has gone up for pre-order and is listed as a web exclusive on the Virgin Mobile website. Read more

Samsung and Virgin Mobile originally showed off the Galaxy Reverb almost a month ago, outlining the device’s features along with a couple of other pre-paid focused devices coming down the pipe from Samsung. During the event, though, details regarding a finalize release date were a bit fuzzy. That comes to an end today, though, as Virgin Mobile has officially put the device up for pre-order to anyone ready to pull the trigger.

The Samsung Galaxy Reverb features a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, and there’s a 1.4GHz processor under the hood. You’ll find 768MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage, and microSD card support if you do find yourself needing some extra space. On the back, there’s a 5MP camera, and a 1.3MP front-facing shooter for good measure.Read more

Virgin Mobile has become the second wireless carrier in the United States to offer the iPhone to pre-paid customers. This allows shoppers to get Apple’s latest smartphone without having to sign a contract.

This carrier, a subsidiary of Sprint, now has both the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4. Because customers are not tied to a multi-year contract, they have to pay the full price for these devices — carrier subsidies come only when consumers sign lengthy service contracts. Therefore the iPhone 4S (16GB) costs $650, and the iPhone 4 (8GB) goes for $550.Read more
